Performing Conversions

Performing Conversions - Overview

Tool Location: Tools > Perform Conversions

The form can also appear at various other times in SiteFX when a change you have made may required a conversion.

After entering or editing data, SiteFX provides the option of converting the data from the original entered format to the standard system set of units. Values are converted using the unit conversion lists and parameter names are converted using the parameter library and alias names. A simple form allows the user to have some control over the process.

Performing Conversions - General Usage

The Conversion Options form, shown below, is use to convert data values and parameters.

Choose whether you wish to convert new data only, re-convert all data, or do not convert and press the Convert button. At the end of the conversion a summary report will be presented if required.

Parameter Names

Parameter names can be converted from the name given by the lab to a standard name used by SiteFX.  Choosing  Convert New will convert all new parameter names entered since the last conversion was done, Re-Convert converts all of the parameter names regardless if they have been previously converted, and Do not convert will not convert any parameter names.

Values and Criteria

This applies to numerical data such as water levels or water quality data.  SiteFX stores a list of conversions between units and will convert data from the original units of measure to the standard SiteFX unit.  The three options are the same as described above.

This functions the same as Values and Criteria, but affects only method detection limits.  The three options are the same as described above. These options are always linked to the Value and Criteria options.
